As a Cleveland property owner, you could qualify for financial assistance to help cover the cost of making your property Lead Safe! Eligible repairs include interim control improvements like paint repairs, new doors or windows, covering lead paint and bare soil, surface treatments that minimize friction or prevent impact, and the sampling, cleaning, and clearance of lead dust.

The Lead Safe Child Care Pilot Program will help 30 Cleveland child care centers built pre-1978, including home-based facilities, become Lead Safe. Participants will have all necessary lead remediation work performed by vetted, EPA-certified Lead Safe workers, have access to professional development and family support resources, and receive financial assistance to help pay for lead repairs.
Created to support area families displaced by lead poisoning or related legal issues, this program offers both short- and long-term solutions, from temporary emergency housing to permanent relocation options. Eligible families include those with at least one child under the age of 18 living in a Cleveland home built before 1978.
With support from local healthcare providers, we are working to provide Cleveland families with easy access to lead testing services, with the goal of testing every Cleveland child for lead poisoning before the age of two (2). In addition, this program helps local families prevent lead exposure, coordinate care, connect with Health Department resources, establish a pediatric medical home, and more.
A home is Lead Safe when lead hazards are controlled so that the concentration of lead dust remains below the threshold set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. This means a Lead Safe home is no longer hazardous but may still contain lead.

A total of 30 child care centers or home-based child care facilities built before 1978 will be selected to participate in the pilot program. Providers located in priority neighborhoods will be given priority.
Priority neighborhoods are defined as neighborhoods documented as having more than 7% of children ages 0-6 tested with elevated blood levels (EBLL).
